› OFFICES OF THE OPERA DI SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE

The Opera del Duomo (OPA), also known as the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, is a secular institution founded in 1926 in Florence. Zero55’s work involved new lighting for the offices. Based on the combination and balance between the historical value of the building and the visual comfort of the working environment, the project perfectly integrates the existing structures.

LIGHTING BODIES

a. Floor lamp

b. Microdrywall Wall-washer and Microdrywall Low Contrast in an integrated “tailor made” structure

THE PROJECT

The lighting design took into account the historical and artistic characteristics of the different functional areas, such as the office area delimited by glass partitions and the circulation one. More specifically, the following criteria were considered: glare limitation, reflection limitation, luminance distribution, and a light colour temperature similar to natural light.

THE PRODUCT

The use of symmetrical Microdrywall optics to illuminate the coffered ceiling and of asymmetrical Microdrywall optics to illuminate the office and circulation areas fully satisfied the technical lighting requirements of the design. A “tailor-made” casing positioned on the existing glass structure made it possible to integrate the optics without altering their essentiality and transparency. The ease of assembly of the luminaires minimised the installation time, as well as ruling out any masonry work.
